Thames Concerts exists to provide accessible, world-class, professional, orchestral classical music for the residents of Kingston upon Thames and the surrounding area. Our aim is to engender a love of classical music in as wide an audience as possible and to support musical education and the musical curriculum in schools via our programme of music.
Main Activities of Organisation
Thames Concerts arranges and presents a series of seven classical music concerts between September and April each year, played by professional orchestras, groups and soloists. The concerts are held predominantly at Kingston Parish Church because of its superb acoustics and central position in Kingston upon Thames.
Job Summary
To develop and implement a fund raising strategy for Thames Concerts
Job Description
Historically Thames Concerts has covered a third each of the costs of arranging and promoting its concert series from tickets sales, a grant from the council and sponsorship and advertising. In recent times while ticket sales have increased and the council grant continued, sponsorship has declined. We are now seeking an individual to re-vitalise this area and raise funds through:
developing contacts with local businesses;
developing and implementing corporate giving programmes including sponsorship of concerts as well as advertising in concert programmes and other publicity;
developing and implementing a membership drive to increase Thames Concerts' membership and membership revenue;
developing and implementing individual giving programmes, such as sponsorship of works performed at concerts.
The successful candidate would also be invited to attend regular meetings of Thames Concerts’ Management Committee and participate in the overall development of Thames Concerts
Self-motivation, experience in working to deadlines, computer literacy and access to email and the internet are required. Experience of fundraising and knowledge of classical music would be an advantage but are not essential.
Job Location and Time Commitment
Volunteer will work from home. Time commitment is flexible although needs to fit in with the timing of the concert series - equivalent to about 1 part-day or evening per week.
