We present an annual series of high quality classical music concerts in Kingston, previously featuring the likes of the London Mozart Players, the Nash Ensemble, and artists such as Howard Shelley, David Juritz and Michael Collins. For 2011, there was a series of concerts with a French flavour, starting on January 29th going through to April 30th, featuring the likes of the English Chamber Orchestra and the Prince Consort. For more information, see the Concert pages. Check out the blog link below for up-to-date news. There is also a poster (PDF format) covering the first three concerts that you can browse or download using this link.
Thames Concerts was formed in 1960 to present classical music in the superb acoustics of Kingston Parish Church. The Society concentrates on an Autumn/Spring season of top-class professionally played concerts in that ancient environment in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames.
Thames Concerts is run by a committee of volunteers who bring together financial support from individual Members and Friends of the Society, the Council of the Royal Borough, and sponsorship from many local businesses. We also aim to support musical education and the musical curriculum in schools via our programme of music. We present a programme of interesting and attractive concerts in an informal and friendly atmosphere using internationally known artists, conductors and orchestras. We are grateful to all who enable us to fulfil our aim of ensuring that outstanding music is available to the community in Kingston.
